Through the funds raised from various events, the Tour de Shore Children’s Foundation is able to fund a variety of worthy causes in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area.
Launched in 2015, the Police Youth Alliance is an original initiative of the Tour de Shore Children's Foundation to bridge the gap between police officers and children in the disadvantaged neighborhoods they patrol. In partnership with the Philadelphia Police Department and Independence Mission Schools, this initiative was designed to create opportunities, through education, for uniformed police officers and students to interact in a positive manner. Currently, through the PYA, police officers are teaching programs that have appeal to students, such as chess, step, reading, drumline, and carpentry.
The Tour de Shore Children's Foundation’s Immediacy Grant Program is designed to provide $5,000 to the family of any first responder who is killed or critically injured in the line of duty in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area.
The Tour de Shore Children’s Foundation’s guidelines reflect a continuous evolution of grantmaking for local children’s charities. The foundation has a specific interest in awarding grants to non-profits focused on education, recreation, and providing financial assistance to the families of fallen first responders.
